Medicaid

I help you understand Medicaid, MSP, QMB, SLMB, QI and who qualifies.

What Medicaid can teach you

Medicaid vs. Medicare

Medicare is federal health insurance based mostly on age. Medicaid is a state-and-federal program based on income and resources. Many seniors qualify for both — that's called being 'dual-eligible' and it unlocks extra help.

Medicare Savings Programs (MSPs)

QMB, SLMB and QI are state-run programs that can pay your Medicare premiums and sometimes deductibles and copays. The income limits change every year, so it's worth checking even if you didn't qualify before.

How to apply without stress

Each state has its own application. We walk through what documents to gather (income, bank statements, ID) and what to expect, so the process feels manageable instead of overwhelming.

Frequently asked questions

Can I have both Medicare and Medicaid?

Yes. If you qualify for both, Medicare pays first and Medicaid often picks up costs Medicare leaves behind.

Will Medicaid look at my house?

Your primary home is usually not counted as a resource while you live in it. Rules differ by state — we'll walk through what applies to you.

What if my income is just over the limit?

You may still qualify for an MSP or for Extra Help with prescriptions. Don't assume you're not eligible — limits update annually.
